Allahabad bank completes Debt Waiver exercise
Allahabad Bank,
one of the premier nationalised banks of the country, has completed
the exercise of finalising the list of eligible small, marginal and
other farmers under the Agricultural Debt Waiver and Debt Relief
Scheme-2008 announced by the Government of India in the Union Budget
(2008-09). The exercise has been completed in all the eligible 1679
branches of the Bank within the prescribed timeframe. The benefit of
the waiver and relief accrues to the farm sector borrowers,
especially to the small, marginal and other farmers.
With a view to ensuring efficient and speedy
implementation of the waiver scheme so that the whole process is
completed within the set timeframe i.e. before 30th June, 2008,
Bank's top Executives including the Chairman and Managing Director
personally visited various rural branches all over the country.
On completion of the total exercise, Shri
A.C.Mahajan, Chairman and Managing Director and two Executive
Directors, Shri K.K.Agarwal and Shri J.P.Dua today visited rural
branches in the state of West Bengal to hand over personally the
Debt-waiver certificates to the eligible farmers. Shri Mahajan and
Shri Dua distributed the certificates to the beneficiary farmer-
borrowers of Bamanghata Branch in South 24-Parganas District, while
Shri Agarwal visited Sheoraphuli Branch in Hooghly District for this
purpose.
