• Savings Bank accounts as the name implies, are intended for savings for future. The very purpose of this type of account is to promote savings habit of the general public.
  • As such, there is no restriction on the number and amount of deposits that can be made.
  • The credit balance outstanding in this account will earn interest as per the current directives of the Bank.
  • When needed, the amount can be withdrawn, subject to certain conditions.

The initial deposit on opening of an account should always be paid in cash. Minimum amount to be deposited as initial deposit is as follows.

  • Savings Bank Accounts may be opened in the names of :-
  • Individual - Single Accounts
  • Two or more individuals - Joint Accounts
  • Illiterate persons
  • Blind persons
  • Minors
  • Associations, Clubs, Societies.
  • Trusts
  • Institutions/Agencies specially permitted by the RBI.

Interest on the balances in Savings Bank account should be allowed on daily product basis at the rates advised by the Bank from time to time.

  • Proof of Identity: Photocopy required of any one.

  • Passport (along with validity details like date of expiry.

  • Driving License

  • Voter ID Card

  • Identity card with photo issued by: Central Government and its departments, State Government and its departments, Statutory / Regulatory Authorities, Public sector undertakings.

  • Latest electricity bill or Landline Telephone bill (atleast 3 months old).
